Construction of the the R550m development started in 2015 and the building was complete in 2016. Completed as recently as 2018, the axis building, designed by DHK architects, gives the impression of a series of loosely interacting floating blocks with windows appearing and disappearing almost like bubbles. The first phase was completed in 2020 These stunning new apartments located in Somerset West appear as a series of staggered disconnected square arches. Developed by Abacus Property Developers and designed by SVA architects, the mixed used development in Somerset West contains shops and restaurants on the ground floor plus a gym and offices on the two upper floors. The center has it's own back-up power supply supplied by a solar field over the parking area - a groundbreaking feature. Established in 1989, Abland Property Developers is creditted with some of the largest and most magnificent office and industrial buildlings in South Africa. ASTRON ENERGY OBTAINS 5 STAR GREEN RATING
The windows are deeply shaded by a network of aluminium shading devices that informs the aesthetic of the building envelope. Seperate grey and black water sewer system plus energy efficient air-condtioning all contributed to the building's achievement.

9. CAPITEC HEADQUARTERS 2020
The sweeping curved horizontal lines of this building give it an almost space-age sophistication while providing the necessary shading to the windows to comply with energy efficiency regulations. 10. MEDICLINIC STELLENBOSCH 2016
The 16,000sqm Mediclinic hospital in Stellenbosch was completed in 2019. It was developed by Atterbury and designed by award winning firm TV3 Architects and Town Planners. The building features screen cladding with forest references and a muted sophisticated grey-based colour scheme fitting for a calming experience.

11. TOKARA WINERY 2000
Winner of the 2001 SAIA Award of Merit Tokara was a child of the turn of the Millenium. The natural materials and clean lines create a sturdy modern building that harmonizes with its beautiful environment among the Stellenbosch vineyards. Designed by van Biljon Visser architects.
