This is one of the most important tourist attractions in Cape Town, and is home to thousands of indigenous plants and small animals. 2. ARDERNE GARDENS
The gardens were first established by Ralph Henry in 1830 who wanted to move to Australia, but decided to stay in the Cape when he saw how beautiful it was en route to his destination. 3. VERGELEGEN WINE FARM
The Vergelegen Wine farm is located in Somerset West and is arguably the location of the second most significant garden in the Western Cape. Developed and nurtured over 4 generations, the gardens are well established and include 7 Camphor trees that are over 300 years old. An octogonal courtyard contains roses as well as many indigenous annuals and perennials. An absolute must see if you love parks and gardens. The gardens at Babylonstoren are located on a historic wine farm just South of Paarl. The gardens are nourished with organic fertilizers. This beautiful garden is located on the historical wine farm of Vredenheim. The careful design of the lplanted areas, makes for a garden that is in bloom almost all year around. 9. GREENPOINT URBAN PARK
A curious feature of Cape Dutch architecture is the dovecot. This was a small rectangular building with two courtyards on the wings and is thought to have house doves and chickens. FAIRVIEW

10. THE COMPANY GARDENS
This is an important heritage site and the oldest cultivated garden in South Africa, having been established in the 1650's by the European settlers to the Cape. It was an important source of fresh produce for travellers en route to the East. See the rose gardens, Dellville Wood memorial, aviary, squirrels and much more.

11. GRANDWEST CASINO
Most visitors don't come especially for the gardens, but the lanscaping and water features around the casino are worth seeing in their own right. Enjoy ice skating with the kids, or a movie at the cinema.
